A quick Carrot Fund update: Since our friends began this campaign for us back in January, you've raised more than $10,000 to support Helena's cure. (Mouth hanging open, agog. Palms raised, love!)

We're ending the campaign tonight because the goal was met--to have enough support to take 2 months off to focus on Helena's cure. We were able to make your support last 3 months, instead of two! What a blessing.

Although we ran our first retreat over the weekend, it took a lot out of both of us. Many of you have asked if you can continue to make monthly contributions, and so we may just start another campaign.

On November 21, 2011, Helena was diagnosed with a rare and inoperable form of cancer. After a lot of research, thought and prayer, we have chosen to use a very rigorous therapy called the Gerson Therapy, a protocol that includes 13 fresh juices and 5 coffee enemas a day (wow!), along with very specific nutritional supplements. This therapy is designed to rapidly detox the body and rebuild Helena's immune system.

We're excited and hopeful about this treatment because the rate of cure is much higher than would be expected for the type and stage of the dis-ease Helena is facing. We're very fortunate because run a raw-vegan spiritual retreat center in the mountains of Brazil--a dream that we had when we lived in the US. However, because of the rigorous schedule of the Gerson Therapy, we need to spend the next 2 months (at a minimum) adjusting to this new routine.

At the urging of our friends, we're requesting assistance with Helena's treatment for the next 2 months so that we can focus all of our attention on her care. Your contribution will help to support:

• Produce needed for juicing: $2,000/month.
• Nutritional supplements: $2,000/month.
• Visits to Helena's doctor in São Paulo: $1,500/month
• Our staff's salaries (farm staff and support with juicing and protocol): $1,200/month.

Our friends have been calling this the "Carrot Fund" because we juice about 80 carrots a day! (We LOVE this name.) One day's worth of organic carrots costs about $25 USD, and every single carrot counts...From the bottom of our hearts and the tops of our carrots, THANK YOU.
